Coaching Model: Live Your Passion

Image
A Coaching Model Created by Betsey Sarris (Transformational Coach, UNITED STATES) There are two great days in a person’s life. The day we are born and the day we discover why. William Barclay – Scottish Theologian & Author We Are Inextricably Connected You are beautiful. A miracle. You have greatness within you. The stars aligned. You are here. There are no mistakes. He who has a why to live for can bear almost anyhow. -Friedrich Nietzsche My coaching model centers around YOU .  No one knows you as you do. You hold the key to your being, your soul, and your destiny. There’s only one you. Even if you have a biological twin. As much as you may be the “same”, you are also different. Just as you have different fingerprints, your footprint is uniquely your own. Together we will work to identify your strengths, dreams, passions, gifts, and how you can live your best life while simultaneously giving back to the world. If you feel lost, out of touch with your passions, or

Positive Psychology on the College Campus

Image
The field of positive psychology has blossomed over the past fifteen years due to its uplifting perspective as well as research findings demonstrating the effectiveness of its practical applications for enhancing individual and organizational well-being. The concepts within positive psychology including focusing on personal strengths, positive emotions, well-being, and factors related to success and thriving can connect with an inner sense of hope and motivation for growth and constructive change. There is a congruence between these concepts of positive psychology and the focus on development, acquiring knowledge and skills, and nurturing of talent and potential that defines higher education. Indeed, positive psychology offers a refreshing and valuable framework for the programs and activities found in academic and student affairs departments. Positive Psychology on the College Campus provides innovative and practical strategies that can be employed with students to enhance both their

Coaching Case Study: An Unstated Problem

Image
Coaching Case Study By Michael Colson (Executive Coach, SWITZERLAND) Who are the main players in this case study? The client is Jennifer, a successful manager at an industrial products firm. I have coached Jenniferperiodically for about eight months, and the session in this case study was held in late November 2020, in the lead-up to the Christmas season. What is the core problem or challenge you applied your coaching skills to? This was an interesting coaching session because the problem the client initially identified turned out to be an example of a much deeper challenge with broader implications on many areas of the client’s life. This case serves as an excellent illustration of a point often raised by our ICA instructors: The initial problem the client brings is rarely the “real” problem. The coaching session took place on the day that Jennifer was going to be hosting friends for a holiday gathering. Jennifer was giving a great deal of thought to preparations for the evening

Research Paper: The Secret Weapon For Managing (And Mastering) Change

Image
Research Paper By Deborah Roos (Business Coach, UNITED STATES) The human body.  It’s designed to run like clockwork, each person uniquely cadenced, but all with a similar template.  Our temperatures burn around 98.6 degrees F.  Our hearts generally beat at a steady rate. Our weight (perhaps with some discipline) finds a natural set point. Even our sleep-wake cycles follow the familiar circadian rhythm.  Our bodies prefer homeostasis– a steady, predictable way of being. Beyond our biology, we even move in steady, predictable ways.  People often have a distinctive walk or an expression that etches itself into the owner’s face. This predictability and muscle memory show up in the discipline of practice: throwing, jumping, kicking, swinging.  It’s how our greatest athletes, musicians, and even video gamers are made. But the reality of life is that it changes.  A lot. Sometimes those changes are so gradual that we barely notice them such as when a child grows or when a coat of paint becomes

Coaching Model: Mindfulness Attracts Power

Image
A Coaching Model Created by Andrijana Ilic (Transformational Coach, SWITZERLAND) My passion for people development comes from the satisfaction of knowing that each human can intensify his progress towards being the person he wants to be and the life he wants to have. The idea of supporting people to reach a miraculous achievement in terms of success, well-being or health, motivates me strongly. This individual improvement brings satisfaction and fulfillment. I believe that the sum of all individual progression and satisfaction, in the end, creates a positive impact on a collective approach. My background in HR and the transformation of organizations has shown me how their performance can be limited because of missing individual progression that would create productive and creative skills, high engagement, and finally happiness at work. I felt how much the personal life and professional life of each human were interconnected.  Year after year, I lived different experiences as an HR mana
